One day or a thousand years (2 Pet 3:8)

“But do not ignore

This one fact!

With the Lord,

One day is

Like a thousand years.

A thousand years are

Like one day.”

This author said, “But do not ignore (μὴ λανθανέτω ὑμᾶς) this one fact (Ἓν δὲ τοῦτο)!  Beloved (ἀγαπητοί)!  With the Lord (παρὰ Κυρίῳ), one day (ὅτι μία ἡμέρα) is like a thousand years (ὡς χίλια ἔτη).  A thousand years are (ὡς χίλια ἔτη) like one day (ὡς ἡμέρα μία).”  This author tried to explain the concept of divine eternity to his beloved Jewish Christian readers.  They should not be ignorant or be hidden from them this simple idea.  With God, one day is like a thousand years, and vice versa, a thousand years are like one day.  God lives in eternity in a forever now.  We are the ones who live in a spatial time situation.  There is no time with God, just eternity.  We are the ones with calendars and time expectations.  What do you think and know about eternity?
