Unity and knowledge (Eph. 4:13)

“This would continue

Until we all attain

The unity

Of the faith

And the knowledge

About the Son of God,

As a mature man,

To the measure

Of the full stature

Of Christ.”

Paul said, “This would continue until we all attain (μέχρι καταντήσωμεν) the unity (εἰς τὴν ἑνότητα) of the faith (τῆς πίστεως) and the knowledge (καὶ τῆς ἐπιγνώσεως) about the Son of God (τοῦ Υἱοῦ τοῦ Θεοῦ), as a mature or a complete man (εἰς ἄνδρα τέλειον), to the measure (εἰς μέτρον) of the full stature (ἡλικίας τοῦ πληρώματος) of Christ (τοῦ Χριστοῦ).”  Only this Ephesian letter used this unique word ἑνότητα, that means to adjure, oneness, unity, or unanimity.  Only the Pauline letters used this word ἐπιγνώσεως, that means recognition, knowledge, perception, discernment, or intuition.  Paul explained that God would build us up until we all reached a faith unity with knowledge, discernment, or intuition about the Son of God.  We then would be a complete mature man understanding the measure of the full meaning of Christ.  Paul indicated that they had a long way to go before they would be a complete mature Christian.  They needed a united faith and complete knowledge of Jesus Christ as the Son of God.  Are you trying to become a mature Christian?
