Tobit wants to meet Tobias’ companion (Tob 5:9-5:9)

“So Tobias went in to tell his father Tobit.

‘I have just found a man who is one of our own Israelite kindred.’

He replied.

‘Call the man in, my son,

So that I may learn about his family.

I want to know to what tribe he belongs.

I want to know whether he is trustworthy enough to go with you.’”

When Tobias met his father, he told him that he found a fellow Israelite. Then Tobit wanted him to bring him in. He wanted to know about his family, his tribe, and whether he was trustworthy. These seemed like legitimate questions.
