The second multiplication of loaves (Mk 8:20-8:20)

“‘Do you remember

The seven loaves

For the four thousand?

How many baskets

Full of broken pieces

Did you collect?’

They said to him.

‘Seven.’”

Then Jesus, like in Matthew, chapter 16:10, asked them to remember how they had 7 loaves of bread for the 4,000 people (ὅτε τοὺς ἑπτὰ εἰς τοὺς τετρακισχιλίους) in the second multiplication of bread loaves.  He asked them how many big baskets of the broken fragment pieces were gathered as left overs They responded 7 (καὶ λέγουσιν Ἑπτά).  All this had just happened in chapter 8:1-10.  How could they be so forgetful?
