Jesus went to Jerusalem again. The people around the Bethzatha pool in Jerusalem waited for an angel to stir the waters. There was a man ill for thirty-eight years. Jesus saw this sick man. Others got ahead of him. However, Jesus told the man to stand up and he was cured. Now this was the Sabbath, and it was not lawful to carry a mat on the Sabbath. The cured man responded that he did not know who healed him. Jesus had told him to sin no more, then he healed this sick man. Curing on the Sabbath was a reason for persecution. Jesus responded that God, the Father, works on the Sabbath, as Jesus called God his Father. This was the third sign. Should you help people on the Sabbath?
