The episode at the gates of Gaza (Judg 16:1-16:3)

“Samson went to Gaza. There he saw a prostitute. He went in to her. The Gazites were told. ‘Samson has come here.’ So they circled around and lay in wait for him all night at the city gate. They kept quiet all night, thinking. ‘Let us wait until the light of the morning. Then we will kill him.’ But Samson lay only until midnight. Then at midnight he rose up. He took hold of the doors of the city gate and the two posts. He pulled them up, bar and all. He put them on his shoulders. He then carried them to the top of the hill that is in front of Hebron.”

Samson went to Gaza, a Philistine town. There he had sex with a prostitute. The locals found out about it, but decided to wait until morning and then kill Samson. However, Samson woke up at midnight. He pulled down the city gates and carried them on his shoulders to Hebron, which is 40 miles away and a 3,000 foot elevation. This Samson was one strong dude.
