King Uzziah the builder and farmer (2 Chr 26:9-26:10)

“Moreover Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the Corner Gate, at the Valley Gate, and at the Angle Gate. He fortified them. He built towers in the wilderness. He hewed out many cisterns. He had large herds, both in the Shephelah and in the plain. He had farmers and vinedressers in the hills and in the fertile lands. He loved the soil.”

King Uzziah rebuilt the walls and towers around Jerusalem after the previous wars had ruined them, especially at the Corner Gate, the Valley Gate, and the Angle Gate. He built towers and cisterns in the desert wilderness. He developed great herds. He had farmers work in the vineyards and the fertile ground, both in the low lands (Shephelah) and the plains. He was a great lover of the soil, a true farmer.
