The final admonition of King David to Solomon (1 Chr 28:20-28:21)

“King David said further to his son Solomon.

‘Be strong and of good courage,

Act without fear.

Be not dismayed.

Yahweh God, my God, is with you.

He will not fail you or forsake you,

Until all the work for the service of the house of Yahweh is finished.

Here are the divisions of the priests and the Levites

For all the service of the house of God.

With you in all the work will be every volunteer

Who has skill for any kind of services,

The officers and all the people will be wholly at your command.’”

Once again, King David wanted his son to be strong and courageous, not to be timid or dismayed. He wanted him to take action without being afraid. Yahweh, David’s God, is with him. He will never leave Solomon until all the work of the house of Yahweh is completed. Everyone will help him. The Levites, priests, and volunteers with various skills will assist Solomon. Everyone will be at his command. This sounds simple enough, but the project will take years to complete.
