Are you ending with the flesh? (Gal. 3:3)

“Are you so foolish?

Having begun

With the Spirit,

Are you now ending

With the flesh?”

οὕτως ἀνόητοί ἐστε; ἐναρξάμενοι Πνεύματι νῦν σαρκὶ ἐπιτελεῖσθε;

Paul said “Are you so foolish (οὕτως ἀνόητοί ἐστε)?  Having begun with the Spirit (ἐναρξάμενοι Πνεύματι), are you now ending with the flesh (νῦν σαρκὶ ἐπιτελεῖσθε)?”  Only the Pauline letters used this unique word ἐναρξάμενοι, that means to begin, to make a beginning, or commence, and the unique word ἐπιτελεῖσθε, that means to complete, accomplish, or perfect.  Paul once again called the Galatians foolish.  They had begun with the Holy Spirit, but now they were trying to end or complete things with their human fleshy body.  Paul continued with this contrast between the Spirit and the flesh.  The Holy Spirit was immortal while the flesh was mortal and dying.  They had the Holy Spirit.  Why were they going back to their human way of doing things?  Do you let the Holy Spirit work in your life?
