Am I a transgressor? (Gal. 2:18)

“But if I build up again

Those very things

That I once tore down,

Then I demonstrate

That I am a transgressor.”

εἰ γὰρ ἃ κατέλυσα ταῦτα πάλιν οἰκοδομῶ, παραβάτην ἐμαυτὸν συνιστάνω.

Paul said, “But if I build up again (πάλιν οἰκοδομῶ) those very things that I once tore down (εἰ γὰρ ἃ κατέλυσα ταῦτα), then I demonstrate that I am a transgressor (παραβάτην ἐμαυτὸν συνιστάνω).”  Paul explained that if he built up the Jewish Torah that he was tearing down, he would be showing himself as a transgressor of God.  He would be a hypocrite.  There was no more separation of Jew and gentile, since the Torah had been the barrier between the Jews and the gentiles.  They were to be united in their faith in Jesus Christ.  He was not going to rebuild this wall between Jews and gentiles.  If he did that, he would be transgressing the law of God as presented by Jesus Christ.  Do you build walls or tear down walls?
