“But now you must get rid
Of all such things,
Anger,
Wrath,
Malice,
Slander,
And abusive language
From your mouth.”
Paul said, “But now you must get rid of (νυνὶ δὲ ἀπόθεσθε καὶ ὑμεῖς) all such things (τὰ πάντα), anger (ὀργήν), wrath (θυμόν), malice (κακίαν), slander (βλασφημίαν), and abusive language (αἰσχρολογίαν) from your own mouth (ἐκ τοῦ στόματος ὑμῶν).” Only this unique word αἰσχρολογίαν, is found here in Colossians, that means abusive language, filthy speech, or foul language. Paul once again gave a list of things that they were to avoid now that they were baptized followers of Jesus Christ. They had to get rid of their old behavioral lifestyle. They had to put away such things as anger, wrath, malice and slander. They also had to avoid using abusive language from their own mouth. How good are you at avoiding abusive language?
