A revelation of Jesus Christ (Gal. 1:12)

“I did not receive

The gospel of Jesus Christ

From a human source.

I was not taught it.

But I received it

Through a revelation

Of Jesus Christ.”

Paul said that I did not (οὐδὲ γὰρ ἐγὼ) receive this gospel of Jesus Christ (παρέλαβον αὐτό) from a human source (παρὰ ἀνθρώπου).  I was not taught it (αὐτό οὔτε ἐδιδάχθην).  But I received it through a revelation (ἀλλὰ δι’ ἀποκαλύψεως) of Jesus Christ (Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ).  Paul explained that he had gotten his gospel of Jesus Christ not from any humans who taught it to him.  Instead, he had received the good news of Jesus Christ from Jesus himself in a revelation on his way to Damascus to persecute the followers of Jesus Christ.  This conversion story can be found three times in Acts, chapters 9:1-19, 22:3-16, and 26:2-18.  This revelation about the foundational message of faith and salvation came directly from God, so that he was not depending on others to teach him.  Which would you rather follow a human message or a revelation from God?
