Kill those who want to harm them (Rev 11:5)

“If anyone

Wants to harm them,

Fire will pour

From their mouths

And consume

Their foes.

If anyone

Wants to harm them,

They must be killed.”

John said, “If anyone (καὶ εἴ τις) wants to harm them (αὐτοὺς θέλει ἀδικῆσαι), fire (πῦρ) will pour (ἐκπορεύεται) from their mouths (ἐκ τοῦ στόματος αὐτῶν) and consume (καὶ κατεσθίει) their foes (τοὺς ἐχθροὺς αὐτῶν).  If anyone (καὶ εἴ τις) wants to harm them (θελήσῃ αὐτοὺς ἀδικῆσαι) they must (οὕτως δεῖ αὐτὸν) be killed (οὕτως δεῖ αὐτὸν ἀποκτανθῆναι).”  John indicated that he heard a voice from heaven say that if anyone wanted to harm these divine witnesses, the olive tree and the lampstand, fire would come from the mouth of the olive tree and the lampstand.  This fire from their mouths would consume their enemies.  If anyone tried to harm either of these two witnesses, it was necessary that they died.  Attacking these two prophesizing witnesses in sackcloth would bring death to anyone who tried to do that.  Do you think that certain crimes deserve the death penalty?
