The silence with the seventh seal (Rev 8:1)

“When the lamb

The seventh seal,

There was silence

In heaven

For about half an hour.”

Καὶ ὅταν ἤνοιξεν τὴν σφραγῖδα τὴν ἑβδόμην, ἐγένετο σιγὴ ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ ὡς ἡμιώριον.

John said “When the lamb opened (Καὶ ὅταν ἤνοιξεν) the seventh seal (τὴν σφραγῖδα τὴν ἑβδόμην), there was silence (ἐγένετο σιγὴ) in heaven (ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ) for about half an hour (ὡς ἡμιώριον).”  This is the only use of this Greek word that appears only in Revelation and not in any other canonical biblical NT writing, the word ἡμιώριον, that means half an hour.  John said that there was a big difference when the lamb opened the seventh seal.  Unlike the previous six seal openings, there was not a lot of action.  He did not see or hear anything.  In fact, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.  In other words, there was a break in the action.  Do you like silence?
