Peace to you (3 John 1:15)

“Peace to you!

The friends

Send you

Greetings.

Greet the friends there,

Each by name.”

Εἰρήνη σοι. ἀσπάζονταί σε οἱ φίλοι. ἀσπάζου τοὺς φίλους κατ’ ὄνομα.

This author said “Peace to you (Εἰρήνη σοι)!  The friends (οἱ φίλοι) send you greetings (ἀσπάζονταί σε).  Greet (ἀσπάζου) the friends there (τοὺς φίλους), each by name (κατ’ ὄνομα).”  Peace was a Jewish blessing.  Instead of calling them brothers, this time, this author called them friends.  One group of friends sending greetings to another group of friends, even by name.  They must have been good friends.  How do you send greetings to a friend?
