You are faithful to strangers (3 John 1:5)

“Beloved!

You do faithfully

Whatever you do

For the brothers,

Even though

They are strangers.”

Ἀγαπητέ, πιστὸν ποιεῖς ὃ ἐὰν ἐργάσῃ εἰς τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς καὶ τοῦτο ξένους,

This author said “Beloved (Ἀγαπητέ)!  You do faithfully (πιστὸν ποιεῖς) whatever you do (ὃ ἐὰν ἐργάσῃ) for the brothers (εἰς τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς), even though they are strangers (καὶ τοῦτο ξένους).”  This author continued to call the recipients of this letter beloved.  He commended them for being so good to their fellow Christian brother believers, even though they were strangers to them.  This must have been an allusion to the itinerant Christian preachers who traveled from place to place.  They were happy to meet other Christian believers wherever they went.  Do you welcome Christian preachers?
