Love (3 John 1:6)

“They have testified

To your love

Before the church.

You will do well

To send them on

In a manner

Worthy of God.”

οἳ ἐμαρτύρησάν σου τῇ ἀγάπῃ ἐνώπιον ἐκκλησίας, οὓς καλῶς ποιήσεις προπέμψας ἀξίως τοῦ Θεοῦ·

This author said, “They have testified (οἳ ἐμαρτύρησάν) to your love (σου τῇ ἀγάπῃ) before the church (ἐνώπιον ἐκκλησίας).  You will do well (οὓς καλῶς ποιήσεις) to send them on (προπέμψας) in a manner worthy (ἀξίως) of God (τοῦ Θεοῦ).”  This author was happy that these visitors said that Gaius had shown his love in front of the whole Christian assembled Church.  He had done a good job sending them on in a manner worthy of God.  Gaius must have declared his love of God in a church gathering.  At the same time, he must have given something to help these Christian brothers to continue their journey.  Thus, they could carry on the work of Jesus Christ.  He had proclaimed love and then shown love to these Christian visitors.  Do you proclaim and show love to others?
