“Do not receive
Into your house
Who comes to you
That does not bring
This author said “Do not receive (μὴ λαμβάνετε αὐτὸν) into your house (εἰς οἰκίαν) or welcome (καὶ χαίρειν αὐτῷ μὴ λέγετε) anyone who comes to you (εἴ τις ἔρχεται πρὸς ὑμᾶς) that does not bring this teaching (καὶ ταύτην τὴν διδαχὴν οὐ φέρει).” This author seems to be against hospitality. Perhaps this author meant the house church where and when they gathered. He did not want any disrupters in these community meetings. They were not to receive or even give a welcoming greeting if these people did not bring the correct teaching about Jesus Christ. If they brought the wrong teaching about Jesus Christ, they were not welcome. Have you ever told someone that they were not welcome in your house?
