“Everyone
Who does not abide
In the teaching
Of Christ,
But goes beyond it,
Does not have God.
Whoever abides
In the teaching
Has both
The Father
And the Son.”
This author said, “Everyone (πᾶς) who does not abide (καὶ μὴ μένων) in the teaching (ἐν τῇ διδαχῇ) of Christ (τοῦ Χριστοῦ), but goes beyond it (ὁ προάγων), does not have God (Θεὸν οὐκ ἔχει). Whoever abides (ὁ μένων) in the teaching (ἐν τῇ διδαχῇ) has (ἔχει) both the Father (οὗτος καὶ τὸν Πατέρα) and the Son (καὶ τὸν Υἱὸν).” This author pointed out who these deceivers or antichrists were. Any and everyone who did not follow the teaching of Jesus Christ was a deceiver or false prophet. They certainly did not have God with them. They went beyond or outside the teaching of Jesus Christ. We might call them heretics, but this author calls them deceivers or antichrists. Now the opposite is true also. Anyone who followed the teachings of Jesus Christ had both God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ with them. Do you follow false teachings or the truth of Jesus Christ?
