“Regard the patience
Of our Lord
As salvation.
So also,
Our beloved brother
Paul wrote
To you
According to the wisdom
Given him.”
This author said, “Regard (ἡγεῖσθε) the patience (μακροθυμίαν) of our Lord (καὶ τὴν τοῦ Κυρίου ἡμῶν) as salvation (σωτηρίαν). So also, our beloved brother (καὶ ὁ ἀγαπητὸς ἡμῶν ἀδελφὸς) Paul (Παῦλος) wrote to you (ἔγραψεν ὑμῖν) according (κατὰ) to the wisdom (σοφίαν) given him (τὴν δοθεῖσαν αὐτῷ).” This author asked his readers to have patience just like their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thus, they would be saved. In fact, he cited the writings of their beloved brother Paul. Paul had written letters to the various Christian communities in Asia Minor, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, and Colossians. God gave Paul the wisdom to write these letters. Paul is presented in a very positive light. What do you think about patience?
