“If these things
Are yours
And are increasing
Among you,
They keep you
From being ineffective
And unfruitful
In the knowledge
Of our Lord
Jesus Christ.”
This author said, “If these things (ταῦτα γὰρ) are yours (ὑμῖν ὑπάρχοντα) and are increasing (καὶ πλεονάζοντα) among you, they keep you from being ineffective (οὐκ ἀργοὺς) and becoming unfruitful (οὐδὲ ἀκάρπους καθίστησιν) in the (εἰς τὴν) knowledge (ἐπίγνωσιν) of our Lord (τοῦ Κυρίου ἡμῶν) Jesus Christ (Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ).” This author once again pointed out the importance of knowledge about Jesus Christ, their Lord. If they were going to have these stepping stones of faith, goodness, knowledge, discipline, patience, godliness, brotherly mutual affection, and love, their knowledge of Jesus Christ would not be ineffective or unfruitful. Just the opposite, they would be effective fruitful Christians. Do you have an effective fruitful Christian life?
