I am holy (1 Pet 1:16)

“It is written.

You shall be holy,

For I am holy.”

διότι γέγραπται Ἅγιοι ἔσεσθε, ὅτι ἐγὼ ἅγιος.

This author stated “It is written (διότι γέγραπται).  You shall be holy (Ἅγιοι ἔσεσθε).  For I am holy (ὅτι ἐγὼ ἅγιος).”  This author used a citation from Leviticus, chapter 19:1-2, “Yahweh spoke to Moses.  Speak to all the congregation of the people of Israel and say to them, ‘You shall be holy.  For I, Yahweh your God, am holy.”  The holiness code or the Ten Commandments is based on the holiness of Yahweh, the God of Israel.  They, too, as followers of Jesus Christ, like the Israelites of old, had to be holy like God also.  They had to try to be vigilant holy all the time.  Do you want to be holy like God?
