My understanding of the Letter of James

The Epistle of James, the Letter of James, or simply James is a general letter addressed to the twelve tribes scattered abroad, generally considered to be Jewish Christians who were dispersed outside Israel.  This letter is one of the 21 epistles or didactic letters in the canonical New Testament.  The author identified himself as “James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ”.  Thus, it seems simple enough to figure out who the author is and who is audience is.  What do you know about James?
