“You should know
That whoever
Brings back
A sinner
From his wandering ways
Will save
The sinner’s soul
From death.
This will cover
A multitude of sins.”
James said, “You should know (γινώσκετε) that whoever brings back (ὅτι ὁ ἐπιστρέψας) a sinner (ἁμαρτωλὸν) from his wandering ways (ἐκ πλάνης ὁδοῦ αὐτοῦ) will save (σώσει) the sinner’s soul (ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ) from death (ἐκ θανάτου). This will cover (καὶ καλύψει) a multitude of sins (πλῆθος ἁμαρτιῶν).” James reminded his readers that whoever brought back the wandering sinner had saved him from eternal death. This kind of action would cover a multitude of sins. While they were saving their neighbor, they were also saving themselves. Have you ever worried about other sinning Christians?
