It rained (Jas 5:18)

“Elijah prayed again.

The heavens

Gave rain.

The earth

Yielded

Its harvest.”

καὶ πάλιν προσηύξατο, καὶ ὁ οὐρανὸς ὑετὸν ἔδωκεν καὶ ἡ γῆ ἐβλάστησεν τὸν καρπὸν αὐτῆς

James said, “Elijah prayed (προσηύξατο) again (καὶ πάλιν).  The heavens (καὶ ὁ οὐρανὸς) gave rain (ὑετὸν ἔδωκεν).  The earth (καὶ ἡ γῆ) yielded (ἐβλάστησεν) its harvest (τὸν καρπὸν αὐτῆς).”  This was based on the story of Elijah as found in 1 Kings, chapter 18:45, “There was a heavy rain”.  Once again, there was no explicit mention of Elijah praying, but only that God wanted it to rain.  There was a clear understanding that God controlled the rain and the yield of the harvest.  Do you believe that God controls the rain in your life?
