Faith without works is dead (Jas 2:26)

“Just as the body

Without the spirit

Is dead,

So faith

Without works

Is also dead.”

ὥσπερ γὰρ τὸ σῶμα χωρὶς πνεύματος νεκρόν ἐστιν, οὕτως καὶ ἡ πίστις χωρὶς ἔργων νεκρά ἐστιν.

James said, “Just as (ὥσπερ γὰρ) the body (τὸ σῶμα) without the spirit (χωρὶς πνεύματος) is dead (νεκρόν ἐστιν), so faith (καὶ ἡ πίστις) without works (χωρὶς ἔργων) is also dead (νεκρά ἐστιν).”  James came to his conclusion.  Just like the body is dead without the spirit in it, so too faith without any active works is dead also.  A dead body is useless.  So too, a dead faith is useless also.  We must have a living active faith that accomplishes good deeds.  Is your faith active in good deeds?
