The Lord be with you! (2 Tim. 4:22)

“The Lord be with your spirit.

Grace be with you.”

Ὁ Κύριος μετὰ τοῦ πνεύματός σου. ἡ χάρις μεθ’ ὑμῶν.

Paul said, “The Lord (Ὁ Κύριος) be with your spirit (μετὰ τοῦ πνεύματός σου).  Grace (ἡ χάρις) be with you (μεθ’ ὑμῶν).”  Paul had one final blessing before he concluded this letter.  He asked that the Lord be with their Spirit.  This is like the famous Dominus vobiscum of the Roman Catholic Mass that is often repeated.  “The Lord be with you!”  Paul wanted God’s graces to be upon Timothy and his congregation community at Ephesus.  Is the Lord with you?
