The crown of righteousness (2 Tim. 4:8)

“From now on,

There is reserved for me

The crown of righteousness,

Which the Lord,

The righteous judge,

Will give me

On that day,

And not only me

But also to all

Who have longed

For his appearance.”

Paul said, “From now on (λοιπὸν), there is reserved (ἀπόκειταί) for me (μοι) the crown of righteousness (ὁ τῆς δικαιοσύνης στέφανος), which the Lord (ὁ κύριος), the righteous judge (ὁ δίκαιος κριτής), will give me (ὃν ἀποδώσει μοι) on that day (ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ), and not only me (οὐ μόνον δὲ ἐμοὶ) but also to all (ἀλλὰ καὶ πᾶσι) who have longed (τοῖς ἠγαπηκόσι) for his appearance (τὴν ἐπιφάνειαν αὐτοῦ).”  Only the Pauline letters used this word ἐπιφάνειαν, that means appearance, manifestation, or glorious display.  Paul explained to Timothy that he would get a crown of righteousness from the righteousness judge, the Lord Jesus Christ.  Paul would get this crown on the day of the Lord’s coming or appearance.  However, it was not going to be Paul alone, but all those believing Christians who were expecting the Second Coming of Jesus Christ at the end times.  Thus, Paul reminded Timothy to also expect the crown of righteousness at the judgment day.  Do you expect a crown of righteousness at the judgment day?
