Guard the treasured trust (2 Tim. 1:14)

“Guard

The good deposited treasure trust

From the Holy Spirit

Living in us.”

τὴν καλὴν παραθήκην φύλαξον διὰ Πνεύματος Ἁγίου τοῦ ἐνοικοῦντος ἐν ἡμῖν.

Paul said, “Guard (φύλαξον) the good deposited treasure trust (τὴν καλὴν παραθήκην) from the Holy Spirit (διὰ Πνεύματος Ἁγίου) living in us (ἐνοικοῦντος ἐν ἡμῖν).”  Only this letter to Timothy used this unique word παραθήκην, that means a deposit or trust.  Only the Pauline letters used this word ἐνοικοῦντος, that means to dwell in or indwelling.  Paul reminded Timothy that he should guard the good trust that has been deposited in him. The Holy Spirit lives or dwells in him to protect this deposited living treasure.  Paul was telling Timothy to keep the faith.  The Holy Spirit would help him.  Do you keep the faith within you?
