Paul wanted to see Timothy (2 Tim. 1:4)

“I remember

Your tears.

I long to see you

So that I may be filled

With joy.”

ἐπιποθῶν σε ἰδεῖν, μεμνημένος σου τῶν δακρύων, ἵνα χαρᾶς πληρωθῶ,

Paul said, “I remember (μεμνημένος) your tears (σου τῶν δακρύων).  I long (ἐπιποθῶν) to see you (σε ἰδεῖν), so that I may be filled with joy (ἵνα χαρᾶς πληρωθῶ).”  Only the Pauline letters used this word ἐπιποθῶν that means to long for, strain after, desire greatly, or have affection for.  Paul remembered that Timothy was in tears.  Thus, Paul wanted to see him again, so that both of them might be full of joy and grace.  Paul had a deep affection for Timothy, even though they were separated.  Is there someone who is not with you that you care a lot about?
