How can we thank God enough? (1 Thess. 3:9)

“How can we thank God enough

For you

In return for all the joy

That we feel

Before our God

Because of you?”

Paul said, “How can we thank God enough (τίνα γὰρ εὐχαριστίαν δυνάμεθα τῷ Θεῷ ἀνταποδοῦναι) for you (περὶ ὑμῶν) in return for all the joy that we feel (ἐπὶ πάσῃ τῇ χαρᾷ ᾗ χαίρομεν) before our God (ἔμπροσθεν τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν) because of you (δι’ ὑμᾶς)?”  Paul then wondered how he would be able to thank God enough?  He was so pleased about the great actions of the Thessalonians that he had a great joy.  Their activity before God was like Paul in prayer before God.  There was a triangular relationship, God, the Thessalonian Christian community, and Paul.  The good report from the followers of Jesus Christ at Thessalonica made Paul rejoice before God.  Are you happy about Christian communities?
