You are waiting for Jesus (1 Thess. 1:10)

“You wait

For his Son

From heaven,

Whom he raised

From the dead,

Who rescues us

From the wrath

That is coming.”

Paul said, “You wait (καὶ ἀναμένειν) for his Son (τὸν Υἱὸν αὐτοῦ) from heaven (ἐκ τῶν οὐρανῶν), whom he raised (ὃν ἤγειρεν) from the dead (ἐκ τῶν νεκρῶν), Jesus (Ἰησοῦν), who rescues us (τὸν ῥυόμενον ἡμᾶς) from the wrath (ἐκ τῆς ὀργῆς) that is coming (τῆς ἐρχομένης).”  Only this letter to the Thessalonians used this unique word ἀναμένειν, that means to await one whose coming is expected.  Paul indicated that the Thessalonians were waiting for the second coming of Jesus Christ.  God had raised his Son, Jesus, from the dead, so that Jesus had rescued or redeemed them from the coming wrath of God.  Paul reminded the new gentile followers of Jesus Christ at Thessalonica that they were waiting for the return of the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who would save them on the final judgment day of God, the end times.  Are you waiting for the return of Jesus Christ at his Second Coming, the end times?
