We are not deceptive (Thess. 2:3)

“Our appeal

Does not spring

From deceit

Or impure motives

Or trickery.”

ἡ γὰρ παράκλησις ἡμῶν οὐκ ἐκ πλάνης οὐδὲ ἐξ ἀκαθαρσίας οὐδὲ ἐν δόλῳ,

Paul said, “Our appeal (ἡ γὰρ παράκλησις ἡμῶν) does not spring from deceit (οὐκ ἐκ πλάνης) or impure motives (οὐδὲ ἐξ ἀκαθαρσίας) or trickery (οὐδὲ ἐν δόλῳ).”  Paul maintained that his preaching and exhortations did come with any kind of deceit or indecent motives.  He never used any tricks to try to convince the Thessalonians to follow Jesus Christ.  Do you know people who use tricks in their preaching about Jesus Christ?
