My work was not in vain (1 Thess. 2:1)

“Brothers!

You yourselves know

That our coming to you

Was not in vain.”

Αὐτοὶ γὰρ οἴδατε, ἀδελφοί, τὴν εἴσοδον ἡμῶν τὴν πρὸς ὑμᾶς, ὅτι οὐ κενὴ γέγονεν,

Paul said, “Brothers (ἀδελφοί)!  You yourselves know (Αὐτοὶ γὰρ οἴδατε) that our coming (τὴν εἴσοδον ἡμῶν) to you (τὴν πρὸς ὑμᾶς) was not in vain (ὅτι οὐ κενὴ γέγονεν).”  Paul explained that the Thessalonians knew that Paul’s coming to them was not in vain or useless.  Paul called them brothers or fellow believers in Jesus Christ.  He had not wasted his time in Thessalonica.  Have you ever had any work that was useless or in vain?
