I work for this (Col. 1:29)

“I work for this.

I struggle

With all the energy

That God powerfully inspires

Within me.”

εἰς ὃ καὶ κοπιῶ ἀγωνιζόμενος κατὰ τὴν ἐνέργειαν αὐτοῦ τὴν ἐνεργουμένην ἐν ἐμοὶ ἐν δυνάμει.

Paul said, “I work for this (εἰς ὃ καὶ κοπιῶ).  I struggle (ἀγωνιζόμενος) with all the energy (κατὰ τὴν ἐνέργειαν) that God powerfully (ἐν δυνάμει) inspires (ἐνεργουμένην) within me (ἐν ἐμοὶ).”  Only the Pauline letters used this word ἐνέργειαν, that means working, action, productive work, or superhuman activity.  Paul indicated that this was his life’s work.  He struggled or strived with all his might that he might muster all the inspiration that that was in him from God.  Paul tried to be worthy of the calling from God that he had received.  Are you worthy of God’s calling for you?
