We lived by human fleshy desires (Eph. 2:3)

“All of us

Once lived

Among them

In the passions

Of our human flesh,

Following the desires

Of our human flesh

And senses.

We were

By nature,

Children of wrath,

Like the rest of mankind.”

Paul said, “All of us once lived among them (ἐν οἷς καὶ ἡμεῖς πάντες ἀνεστράφημέν ποτε) in the passions of our human flesh (ἐν ταῖς ἐπιθυμίαις τῆς σαρκὸς ἡμῶν), following the desires of our human flesh (ποιοῦντες τὰ θελήματα τῆς σαρκὸς) and the senses (καὶ τῶν διανοιῶν).  We were by nature, children of wrath (καὶ ἤμεθα τέκνα φύσει ὀργῆς), like the rest of mankind (ὡς καὶ οἱ λοιποί).”  Only the Pauline letters used this word φύσει, that means by nature, inherent, origin, or birth.  Paul explained even further.  We lived among these sons of disobedience.  We lived by the passions of our human flesh.  We followed the desires of our human flesh and our human senses.  We are by natural birth the children of wrath.  We were just like the rest of the people until Jesus Christ came into our lives.  What kind of human passions and desires do you have?
