God’s grace and kindness (Eph. 2:7)

“Thus,

In the ages to come,

God might show

The immeasurable riches

Of his grace

In kindness toward us

In Christ Jesus.”

Paul said, “Thus, in the ages to come (ἐν τοῖς αἰῶσιν τοῖς ἐπερχομένοις), God might show (ἵνα ἐνδείξηται) the immeasurable riches (τὸ ὑπερβάλλον πλοῦτος) of his grace (τῆς χάριτος αὐτοῦ) in kindness (ἐν χρηστότητι) toward us (ἐφ’ ἡμᾶς) in Christ Jesus (ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ).”  Only the Pauline letters used this word ἐνδείξηται, that means to indicate, prove, or show, and the word ὑπερβάλλον, that means to throw over or beyond, to run beyond, surpass, excel, exceed, or transcend, as well as the word χρηστότητι, that means goodness, excellence, uprightness, kindness, or gentleness.  Paul explained that God was going to show us his superabundant richness of his grace and goodness towards us because of Jesus Christ.  All of this would take place in the time to come.  It would not be an immediate gratification.  Everything good and wonderful would happen in the time to come because of Jesus Christ.  Do you have patience to wait for the good times of Jesus Christ?
