Justified by faith in Christ (Gal. 2:16)

“We know

That a person is not justified

By works of the law

But through faith

In Jesus Christ.

We have come to believe

In Christ Jesus,

So that we may be justified

By faith

In Christ,

And not by doing

The works of the law,

Because no one will be justified

By the works of the law.”

Paul said, “We know (εἰδότες) that a person is not justified (δὲ ὅτι οὐ δικαιοῦται ἄνθρωπος) by the works of the law (ἐξ ἔργων νόμου) but through faith (ἐὰν μὴ διὰ πίστεως) in Jesus Christ (Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ).  We have come to believe (ἐπιστεύσαμεν) in Christ Jesus (καὶ ἡμεῖς εἰς Χριστὸν Ἰησοῦν), so that we may be justified (ἵνα δικαιωθῶμεν) by faith in Christ (ἐκ πίστεως Χριστοῦ), and not by doing the works of the law (καὶ οὐκ ἐξ ἔργων νόμου), because no one will be justified (οὐ δικαιωθήσεται πᾶσα σάρξ) by the works of the law (ὅτι ἐξ ἔργων νόμου).”  Paul went into a long explanation of what he meant by justification or a righteous person.  Clearly, Paul said that no one was justified through the works of the law, the legal observance of the Torah.  On the other hand, faith, trust, and confidence in Jesus Christ will make you righteous and justified.  Based on Psalm 143:2, no one was justified.  Paul elaborated that the works or the observance of the Mosaic law would not make you righteous.  There was no confusion.  Faith in Jesus Christ was the only way to go.  Doing the works of the Torah did not make you justified.  Only faith in Jesus Christ can justify you.  Do you have faith in Jesus Christ?
