I do not lie (Gal. 1:20)

“In what I am writing

To you,

Before God,

I do not lie!”

ἃ δὲ γράφω ὑμῖν, ἰδοὺ ἐνώπιον τοῦ Θεοῦ ὅτι οὐ ψεύδομαι.

Paul said “In what I am writing to you (ἃ δὲ γράφω ὑμῖν), before God (ἰδοὺ ἐνώπιον τοῦ Θεοῦ), I do not lie (ὅτι οὐ ψεύδομαι)!”  This is exactly what Paul has said in Romans, chapter 9:1, “He was speaking (λέγω) the truth (Ἀλήθειαν) in Christ (ἐν Χριστῷ).  He was not lying (οὐ ψεύδομαι)”, and 2 Corinthians, chapter 11:31, “The God (ὁ Θεὸς) and the Father (καὶ Πατὴρ) of the Lord Jesus (τοῦ Κυρίου Ἰησοῦ) should be blessed forever (ὁ ὢν εὐλογητὸς εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας)!  He knows (οἶδεν) that I do not lie (ὅτι οὐ ψεύδομαι).”  Paul wanted to make sure that Galatian churches or communities knew that he did not lie, but was truthful and honest before God or in God’s presence.  Do you lie?
