“Look at what is before your eyes.
If you are confident
That you belong
Remind yourself of this.
Just as you belong
Do we also.”
Paul said, “Look (βλέπετε) at what is before your eyes or appearances (Τὰ κατὰ πρόσωπον). If you are confident that you belong to Christ (εἴ τις πέποιθεν ἑαυτῷ Χριστοῦ εἶναι), remind yourself of this (τοῦτο λογιζέσθω πάλιν ἐφ’ ἑαυτοῦ). Just as you belong to Christ (ὅτι καθὼς αὐτὸς Χριστοῦ), so do we also (οὕτως καὶ ἡμεῖς).” Paul reminded the Corinthians that they were looking at the appearances of people. They were to remember that those who said that they belonged to Christ, that also Paul and his associates said the same thing. Thus, Paul was putting them on notice. They said that they belonged to Christ. Saying it was not good enough. They had to do something about it. Do you do something about your faith in Jesus Christ?
