You glorify God (2 Cor. 9:13)

“Through the testing

Of this ministry,

You will glorify God

By your obedience

In your professing

The gospel of Christ,

And by the generosity

Of your contribution

For all the others.”

Paul said that through the testing of this ministry (διὰ τῆς δοκιμῆς τῆς διακονίας ταύτης), the Corinthians would glorify God (δοξάζοντες τὸν Θεὸν) by their obedience (ἐπὶ τῇ ὑποταγῇ) in their professing (τῆς ὁμολογίας ὑμῶν) the gospel of Christ (εἰς τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τοῦ Χριστοῦ), and by the generosity (καὶ ἁπλότητι) of their contribution or participation (τῆς κοινωνίας εἰς αὐτοὺς) for all the others (καὶ εἰς πάντας).  Only the Pauline letters used this word δοκιμῆς, that means trial, proving, or approval, and the word ὑποταγῇ, that means subjection, submission, or obedience, as well as the word ὁμολογίας, that means an agreement, confession, or profession, and the word ἁπλότητι, that means singleness, simplicity, sincerity, purity, or graciousness.  Paul used a unique vocabulary to praise the Corinthians for their work in this collection.  He said that this was a test for them in how they would glorify God.  They certainly were obedient believers in the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Now they were going to show their generosity to all by their participation in this collection for the Jerusalem Jewish Christians.  How do you show your generosity to God?
