Everything for your sake (2 Cor. 4:15)

“Everything is for your sake,

So that grace,

As it extends

To more

And more people,

May increase thanksgiving,

To the glory of God.”

Paul said, “Everything is for your sake (τὰ γὰρ πάντα δι’ ὑμᾶς), so that grace (ἵνα ἡ χάρις), as it extends or abounds (πλεονάσασα) to more and more people (διὰ τῶν πλειόνων), may increase thanksgiving (τὴν εὐχαριστίαν περισσεύσῃ) to the glory of God (εἰς τὴν δόξαν τοῦ Θεοῦ).”  Only the Pauline letters used this word πλεονάσασα, that means to super abound, to abound, or more than enough.  Paul explained that he did everything for their sake in Corinth.  Thus, the grace of God would extend or abound to more and more people.  If that happened, then there would be more thanksgiving given for the glory of God.  Paul wanted the grace of God and their thanksgiving to increase and multiply exponentially.  Do you work for others?
