“Whether then it was I
And you have believed.”
εἴτε οὖν ἐγὼ εἴτε ἐκεῖνοι, οὕτως κηρύσσομεν καὶ οὕτως ἐπιστεύσατε.
Paul said whether then it was him (εἴτε οὖν ἐγὼ) or the others (εἴτε ἐκεῖνοι), they proclaimed and preached the risen Jesus Christ (οὕτως κηρύσσομεν). Then they believed in the risen Jesus Christ (καὶ οὕτως ἐπιστεύσατε). To Paul, it did not matter who the preacher or proclaimer was, himself or others. The main fact was simple. They had preached and proclaimed Jesus Christ. They, the Christian community at Corinth, had believed in the Christian message, that is what counted. Everything else was not that important. Does the preacher really matter that much?
