Is your faith in vain? (1 Cor. 15:14)

“If Christ has not been raised,

Then our proclamation

Has been in vain.

Your faith is in vain.”

εἰ δὲ Χριστὸς οὐκ ἐγήγερται, κενὸν ἄρα τὸ κήρυγμα ἡμῶν, κενὴ καὶ ἡ πίστις ὑμῶν·

Paul concluded that if Christ has not been raised from the dead (εἰ δὲ Χριστὸς οὐκ ἐγήγερται), then our proclamation has been (ἄρα τὸ κήρυγμα ἡμῶν) in vain (κενὸν).  Your faith is (καὶ ἡ πίστις ὑμῶν) in vain (κενὴ).  Paul pointed out the obvious importance of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.  If Jesus had not risen from the dead, then his preaching and proclamation was in vain or useless.  Paul turned to the Corinthians, reminding them that if Jesus had not risen from the dead, their belief was also useless and in vain.  The two were directly connected.  Do you see the connection between the resurrection of Jesus and your own faith?
