“My brothers!
Earnestly desire
To prophesy!
Do not forbid
Speaking in tongues!”
Ὥστε, ἀδελφοί μου, ζηλοῦτε τὸ προφητεύειν, καὶ τὸ λαλεῖν μὴ κωλύετε γλώσσαις·
Paul finally said to his believing brothers (Ὥστε, ἀδελφοί μου) that they should earnestly desire to prophesy (ζηλοῦτε τὸ προφητεύειν). They should not forbid anyone from speaking in tongues (καὶ τὸ λαλεῖν μὴ κωλύετε γλώσσαις). Paul reminded his believing brothers in Corinth that they should all hope and desire to prophesy. However, they should not forbid anyone from speaking in tongues. Paul preferred prophecy but allowed for the speaking in tongues. Do you have prophesy or speaking in tongues in your community church?
