“Make love your aim!
The spiritual gifts,
Especially that you may prophesy.”
Διώκετε τὴν ἀγάπην, ζηλοῦτε δὲ τὰ πνευματικά, μᾶλλον δὲ ἵνα προφητεύητε.
Paul said that you should make Christian agape love your aim (Διώκετε τὴν ἀγάπην)! Earnestly desire the spiritual gifts (ζηλοῦτε δὲ τὰ πνευματικά), especially that you may prophesy (μᾶλλον δὲ ἵνα προφητεύητε). Only the Pauline letters used this word πνευματικὰ, that means spiritual. Paul continued to stress the importance of Christian agape love. That was the aim of purpose for everyone. At the same time, he wanted the Christian Corinthians to pursue other spiritual or charismatic gifts, especially the gift of prophecy. Do you know anyone who is a prophet?
