“If anyone imagines
That he knows something,
He does not yet know
As he ought to know.”
εἴ τις δοκεῖ ἐγνωκέναι τι, οὔπω ἔγνω καθὼς δεῖ γνῶναι·
Paul said that if anyone imagines (εἴ τις δοκεῖ) that he knows something (ἐγνωκέναι τι), he does not yet know (οὔπω ἔγνω) as he ought to know (καθὼς δεῖ γνῶναι). Paul indicated that a lot of people think that they know a lot, but they still don’t know what they don’t know. We all have a false sense of knowledge, until we come to realize that we don’t know as much as we should know. The things that we don’t know are really scarier than the things that we do know. Some people think that they know God, but they really don’t know God at all. Do you know what you don’t know?
