Shun fornication! (1 Cor. 6:18)

“Shun fornication!

Every sin

That a man commits

Is outside the body.

But the fornicator

Sins against his own body.”

Paul said “Shun fornication (φεύγετε τὴν πορνείαν)!”  He explained that every sin (πᾶν ἁμάρτημα) that a man commits (ὃ ἐὰν ποιήσῃ ἄνθρωπος) is outside the body (ἐκτὸς τοῦ σώματός ἐστιν).  But the fornicator (ὁ δὲ πορνεύων) sins (ἁμαρτάνει) against his own body (εἰς τὸ ἴδιον σῶμα).  Paul turned to sexual immorality, fornication.  They were to flee or avoid this immoral action.  Paul said that most of the sins that humans commit are outside their own body.  However, this fornication or adultery is within and against a person’s own body.  Do you abuse your own body?
