Greet Herodion! (Rom 16:11)

“Greet my kinsman Herodion!

Greet those in the Lord

Who belong to the family

Of Narcissus.”

ἀσπάσασθε Ἡρῳδίωνα τὸν συγγενῆ μου. ἀσπάσασθε τοὺς ἐκ τῶν Ναρκίσσου τοὺς ὄντας ἐν Κυρίῳ.

Paul said to greet (ἀσπάσασθε) his kinsman (τὸν συγγενῆ μου) Herodion (Ἡρῳδίωνα)!  Greet (ἀσπάσασθε) those in the Lord (τοὺς ὄντας ἐν Κυρίῳ) who belonged to the family of Narcissus (τοὺς ἐκ τῶν Ναρκίσσου).  Paul wanted the Roman Christians to greet another of Paul’s relatives, Herodion, without indicating how they were related.  Perhaps he was a Jewish Christian also.  Once again, he had a shout-out to a whole family, the Narcissus family, but there was no further description about this family.  Do you have friends and relatives in other cities?
