God’s mercy (Rom 9:16)

“Thus,

God’s mercy

Depends

Not on human will

Or human exertion,

But upon God’s mercy.”

ἄρα οὖν οὐ τοῦ θέλοντος οὐδὲ τοῦ τρέχοντος, ἀλλὰ τοῦ ἐλεῶντος Θεοῦ.

Paul said that then (ἄρα οὖν) God’s mercy depends not on human will (οὐ τοῦ θέλοντος) nor human exertion or exercise (οὐδὲ τοῦ τρέχοντος), but upon God’s mercy itself (ἀλλὰ τοῦ ἐλεῶντος Θεοῦ).  Paul indicated that God’s mercy did not depend upon human will or their exercise of any activities.  Only God’s mercy came from God, not humans.  We did not will or earn anything by ourselves.  Are you willing to accept the mercy of God?
